Spray Foam Insulation Questions and Answers
Haliburton Insulation understands how big of a decision it can be to choose a company for your upcoming insulation project. Everyday we are asked similar questions from customers just like you about the products we use, our experience and how insulation really can make a difference in a home. The following are just some of the most common questions about Haliburton spray foam insulation, but we are always happy to answer any others you may have as well.
What is Sprayed Polyurethane Foam Insulation?
Sprayed Polyurethane Foam is a type of spray insulation plus sealant. As a rigid cellular plastic with over 95% closed cell content, Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation is a superior choice for insulation, air barrier and, in some cases, also a vapour barrier. As an added bonus, this insulation will help cut energy costs and improve the level of comfort in any building it is utilized in.
Will using spray foam insulation create a water and rodent proof building?
Haliburton Insulation only uses two pound spray foam insulation which IS waterproof and rodent proof! Because of the high-density, strength and weight of two-pound closed cell foam, it is able to resist water and air leakage and also deters rodents and other vermin from getting into your home or commercial building.
What are some of the most common areas in a home or building to utilize spray foam insulation?
Pretty much any area in a home or building can benefit from the use of spray foam insulation. Some of the most common areas Haliburton Insulation utilizes spray foam are:
• Walls
• Foundations
• Crawl spaces
• Ceilings
• Header spaces
• Around doors and windows

Do I really need to upgrade my insulation? How would I know?
The most common reason people start to consider upgrading their home or commercial building insulation is due to heat loss and seeing an increase in their gas and electricity bills. As a building ages, older styles of insulation give way allowing for air to travel through and escape through the attic and small cracks. Other common reasons people consider upgrading insulation can be:
• ice damming
• a lack of proper ventilation
• rodent issues
• water damage in basements
• upgrading a home or cottage to a four-season dwelling
If you are ever unsure if your home or building can benefit from an insulation upgrade, contact us today for a free quote! As professional spray foam insulators, we are always 100% upfront and honest and will never oversell you on anything you don’t need.
